Dawn is the Communications Coordinator at Church of the Holy Spirit. She will be helping to maintain the website and Facebook page, put together our monthly Spiritus newsletter and help with publicizing COHS events.
When not at COHS, she is also a school bus driver for the Perkiomen Valley School District. She was also a former employee at Generations of Indian Valley Senior Center as their Social Services Coordinator.
Dawn loves to sing, and has been a member of the choir since 2000. She has attended the Royal School of Church Music course in Wilkes-Barre, PA every summer since 2003 as a staff member, thanks to being introduced to it by Sue Ellen Echard, our music director. She also plays her flute when needed for choral music, and for the monthly Taize services.
Dawn and her family have been attending COHS since 1998 and both her children have been on the J2A pilgrimages. In the past, she was a Sunday School teacher for COHS and has been on the third pilgrimage as chaperone for the J2A class she was teaching, and also chaperoned many Spruce Lake Retreats for the youth. Dawn has volunteered as account manager for the Choir tours, and also attended those trips.
When not driving a school bus or at the computer, she has recently discovered the love of quilting. She has been a sewist since the fourth grade, but mostly for garments and window treatments. After sewing her daughter’s wedding gown in July 2014, she wanted to make a quilt that would be a memory of her daughter’s wedding day as a Christmas gift to the couple. She has completed at least a half dozen quilts since then, including several T-shirt memory quilts for friends who have lost loved ones. Her other crafty endeavors include, embroidery, knitting, and generally anything you can try and make with your hands.
Now that the kids are out of the house, she lives with her husband and three dogs. Tucker – a chesapeake bay retreiver, Penny – a basset hound mix, and Zoe – a terrier mix who is blind and deaf. You can find her and her husband in a little boat on Lake Nockamixon, or on the back of her husband’s Harley in the nicer weather!
