Chris Detweiler is the buildings and grounds representative on Church Vestry. He came to Holy Spirit by God’s call through music back in 2004. Yes, it is true that he was even the general contractor who built the building back in 1997. Chris grew up at Souderton Mennonite Church and has since been Lutheran before being received into the Episcopal church. His Mennonite roots invoke his interest to serve on the board of directors at the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville. Chris also serves on the board at Living Hope Farm which is a CSA at the Indian Creek farmstead. He is also on the board of Generations of Indian Valley in Souderton.
Chris’ love of singing has been a common melody throughout his life. He has been involved in many touring choirs to sing across the United States and abroad. When not singing a tenor line or two, he is working as a construction manager and consultant. His three kids keep a busy schedule so sitting down to play a game is always a welcome pleasure. Chris also enjoys cooking, gardening, biking, kayaking, and animals. At their family farm, extended family members have included: horses, goats, sheep, chickens, guinea hens, cats, dogs, birds, domestic rats and snakes. There is always feeding, watering and cleanup work to do…Stop on by if you want to help!
