We believe that the light of Christ shines brightly at Church of the Holy Spirit and that we are called to share this light with others. We are blessed with dozens of ministries led and supported by clergy, staff and literally hundreds of volunteers who give of their time and talents.
Sharing the Light, our stewardship campaign for 2015, is about all of us appropriately sharing the blessings we have been given and providing all of the necessary financial support to sustain this church community. There has to be adequate support for the church to remain and sustain-it’s just that simple. We thank those who have pledged and given financial contributions thus far. Currently, however, our pledges are running approximately $11,000.00 per quarter behind our budget. Operating expenses continue even when church attendance and giving tend to drop during the summer months. For example:
- Driveway/parking lot paving $ 7,500
- 5 new “Episcopal” road signs $ 1,500
- Compliance for Safe Church $ 3,000
(criminal Background checks & other items)
- Church School materials $ 2,100/yr
- Worship Supplies $ 8,900/yr (candles, wine, acolyte vestments, nursery coverage)
Consequently, as good stewards, we are embarking on a summer fund-raising campaign to help offset our pledge shortfall. We are being challenged to raise $20,000, and are asking each family, if at all possible, to contribute one month’s extra pledge over the summer. This may be done in one payment, three monthly payments, or spread out over the campaign period (June 7 to Sept 6) which is 14 weeks. Campaign envelopes have been distributed in a special mailing to the congregation and will be available in the vestibule and chair racks. Or, you may give using your banks on-line banking system (please memo “Campaign”). If you don’t pledge, would you consider making a pledge for the remainder of 2015, or give an extra $10-$20 a week over the summer?
Each and every one of us is a vital part of this church community. We thank you for this additional support. Together, let’s recommit ourselves to sharing the light of Christ with a new awareness by giving as generously as we are able by setting God’s work at Church of the Holy Spirit at the same level as our other household needs.
